The City of Love

Anne has lived in Verona since 1992 and answers your messages herself. Ask her which evenings the Arena is open while you are here. Lake Garda and the medieval village of Sirmione are 45 minutes away by car, and there are wine tours in the Valpolicella.

History

Verona month by month

Summer is the opera season at the Arena, and the time of year when the drive to Lake Garda is worth it. In autumn the Valpolicella turns colour and the museums are quiet. Winter brings the Christmas markets, and the city fills up again around Valentine's Day. Vinitaly is in spring. We work with local guides, and tours are booked in advance.

Mobility

Getting around

Verona is a city you see on foot, and both apartments are inside the old town. Bikes and electric scooters are for rent, and a car only makes sense for the Valpolicella or the lake. The funicular up to Castel San Pietro starts in front of Santo Stefano. If you would rather not drive, we can arrange a private driver.

Wander around Verona

Verona is the city of Romeo and Juliet, and it plays the part: narrow streets, a hill with Castel San Pietro on top, and Ponte Pietra crossing the Adige in white marble and red brick.

It is also a city of music. The opera season fills the Arena every summer, and the Roman Theatre stages Shakespeare on the other bank of the river, beside Santo Stefano.

The architecture comes in layers: Roman walls, the Romanesque basilica of San Zeno, Gothic tombs, Renaissance palaces. For shopping, Via Mazzini runs from the Arena up to Piazza Erbe.
